Sometimes a tradition bar chart doesn’t give you everything you need to know to be able to compare the facts.  A study released by the Environmental Law Institute, a nonpartisan research and policy organization, shows that the federal government has provided substantially larger subsidies to fossil fuels than to renewables. Subsidies to fossil fuels totaled approximately $72 billion over the seven-year study period, while subsidies for renewable fuels totaled $29 billion over the same period.

I like how they used this chart to represent a better pie chart in regards to tax breaks.   I think it would be great if they actually put it as a percent of the total so you could easily compare apples to apples.     Numbers are of course bigger for fossil fuels (no, oil doesn’t come from dinosaurs) as that industry is much older.  Kind of miss leading.
